Multicultural Critical Theory...say that three times fast

Business looking for an edge up,
looks to design thinking as a way,
is it really design thinking or just, critical thinking?
either way, whichever you call it,
the end is to produce better
business people who can navigate
complicated issues, ranging from client
to environment in a better way.
see more broadly,
look for connections,
see more clearly,
make a better decision.

on running shoes...

"A new musculoskeletal study finds that running with running shoes exerts significantly more stress on key joints than running barefoot..."

whole article

which brings us back to running barefoot and vibram 5 fingers.

such a tricky thing, designing for the body.
it's designed to move.
it's sort of like water.
it can assume so many forms,
what is/is there an optimum form for it?

"id" transformation(s)

"Product design used to account for 80 percent of companies' requests," he said. "Now it has declined to about one-third of our total business. Design strategies and improving brands and services are becoming more important."

Thin, legible, indestructable, and it might even save the newspaper industry, or so they say.

Ford Adding Social Networking to Cars

"guess what guys? i just caused a 10 car pile up! whoops! lol"

It totally boggles my mind how ANYONE who's driven and seen people drive with a cell phone, much less txting while driving, could think this is a good idea. And the rationale?

"It is a reason now to buy a Ford," Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally said in an interview. "It's a new way of working and talking with your car."

You know, I'm no social scientist. I've done no studies to prove that driving and texting or driving and talking on the phone are wreckless. ("Most of the industry studies show that just driving and just talking is the same," Kuzak said. "As long as the customer's eyes are on the road, they are not compromised."  Yeah, this coming from the guy/gal swerving all over the road) I do have my own experience which very very clearly says this is just Bad, yes, capital "B".

Come on, what happened to good sense?
or
Why can't you trust your own experience? vs. experts to tell you (for you)
or
Do you not drive a car ... on this earth?

isn't there a point where a thing, needs a thing-ness?
a dimension?
a materiality?
a physicality...of some sort?
